I'm proud of the Gospel Truth as its the first album that both criticized the church and celebrated the music and the best values of the church. Here it's love/hate when it comes to the church - and very little in between. But in between is where America really lives with this stuff - separation of church and state - that struggle is part of the American personality. The response has been overwhelming - so many Americans grew up with the church - and many of us want to keep what was useful and what was of value while discarding that which is hurtful and discriminatory and limiting. As a friend of mine said, "the church got the music right and the words wrong." love that.
