Selling a house in France is nothing like selling a house in the UK. The work an agent does is more like the first stage of the UK’s house sale process of conveyancing – this is in addition to the usual work of an estate agent preparing and marketing a house for sale and showing round potential purchasers.
The mandate is the first official document to begin the sale process and legally forms part of the sale paperwork for the contracts. Getting it wrong can have major consequences for a sale, including potential for the sale to fall through.
